Accident insurance card - mandatory?

Dear All,

Does anyone know if it is mandatory for an employer to provide its employees with accident insurance cards similar to health insurance cards? If so, must they include a chip?

Thanks,

Rachel

I have never heard of that.

In Switzerland the hospitals send the bills directly to the insurance, usually SUVA

When abroad, you pay and claim back, via employer.

I've never heard of accident insurance cards, either.

My husband's accident insurer provided a card, and he was asked to show it when he went in to a doctor's appointment recently (not related to accident insurance things). I can't recall that it had a chip.

Re: Accident insurance card - mandatory?

A Swiss hospital could look up your insurance in a database. You just have to remember your workplace after the accident. If they cannot find it they will simply send you a bill a few weeks later.

My HR deigned a simple "help card" with the name of the insurance provider and the policy number. Helpful if your provider is not SUVA. Additional details on the "help card" are IT help line, facility manager number, HR phone number, incident (data safty, workplace safty etc) report phone number etc. Just to make the card more useful.

However, most of the time it is SUVA, so just say SUVA and job done!
