Vacating partment w/o serving notice

Does my apartment insurance cover for my deposit if I am not able to serve three months before vacating. I had abrupt termination of contract from employer. I have insurance document but all in French can`t understand a word.

There is a 99.9% chance that the answer is no.

Re: Vacating partment w/o serving notice

I believe they lose the money (swisscaution?) as that is the risk they take. but I wouldnt count on ever getting that money back.

Btw you can end a contract before the 3 months. just put it up for rent and the agency needs 3 solvable potential renters. after that you can get out of your lease. (we are doing this right now)

Re: Vacating partment w/o serving notice

Thanks. Does it mean the company (Swisscaution) covers the cost, if I vacate before time and serving the notice. Mine is too urgent don`t have time to search for possible tenants.

as per your contract with swisscaution, they'll happily charge you for any loss. And your liability insurance won't cover criminal acts or breach of contract.

so, guess who gets to pay that!!

Re: Vacating partment w/o serving notice

Thanks. So if I serve notice from 30 Sept, vacate the premises by end Oct. I am liable to pay two months extra rent to the Reggie. Notice period is three months.

read through your contract - nobody can speculate as to the clauses in your legal paperwork without seeing it!!

I don't know geneva laws, but in zh there are specific dates in the year, so you would be liable until then.

why exactly are you needing to be spoon fed, and unwilling to just find a followup renter?

Re: Vacating partment w/o serving notice

It needs to be said that most likely, you will pay the rent at least until March/April.
I can only move out at the end of September if I serve the notice three months before Sep. 1st. (IIRC).
Next date to move out is 1st of April.
Of course, your regie will swiftly find another tenant and pocket a nice little profit from both rents...
