I dont really have good experiences with that site, Plus I found it annoying. I was just looking for personnel experience from people rather than a big company

You asked for advice based on price - being as individuals on EF aren't insurance companies then it seems rather odd to then ask for good experiences.

Big companies = lower prices. The 24s are usually the cheapest (Allianz and Zurich) but if you don't like Comparis you are unlikely to like their service.

For voll-kasko on a car around the 100,000chf new price amount, expect a quote north of 2,000chf.

Re: best car insurance for a bmw m3?

Does it have to be listed at a new price?
Also, what about modifications?

Re: best car insurance for a bmw m3?

modifications usually are not hammered here - as long as the car will pass MFK/expertise.

The laziest comparison website you can use is comparis. Or talk to an insurance agent.

Are you buying the car cash or financing?

I see - your question is far more than just "best car insurance" (based on price).

If you have fully comprehensive insurance the price is based on the NEW PRICE - the assumption being that the price to repair a 200k car stays at 200k even if the cars value drops to 40k. Where as it might cost 10k to repair a car that cost 40k new, it might cost 30k for the 200k car.

(A front end smash in an M5 might require a new engine - 20k chf).

Back to the M3 - new? used? age? modifications?

There is no limit to what CAN be insured - it all depends on whether you are happy to pay the price.

Its heavily modified.
Its the racing dynamics RS46. So a super fancy BMW M3.
It's a 2008, about 50,000 km on it.

MFK?
It's gone through customs, is that good enough?

Re: best car insurance for a bmw m3?

Fully-comp will usually replace a write-off with the depreciated new price until 6.5/7 years old.

RD is homologated here so type approval for OEM parts should be OK.

You know the speed limits still remain the same?

customs <> roadworthy certification.

You'll tell me it's on Canadian tags next, I'm guessing?

Re: best car insurance for a bmw m3?

2012 M3 Competition, all options but manual transmission - AXA, full coverage 2600 p.a.

Btw to get plates had to pass control. Two issues - amber lights and rear fog lamps. Latter fixed through replacement of switch gear, since the lamps are present and wiring harness is the same for all countries on the M models. Former fixed through coding.

If you need coding, pm me and I will provide the contact info for a reliable coder.

Re: best car insurance for a bmw m3?

This seems very familiar...... once again depends if it will pass the MFK without certification if any have ever been sold here or indeed would actually be able to be sold here

No online provider, even our sister company, or comparis will be able to provide a quote on this car. It would have to be treated as a custom vehicle by a broker that after all the only thing it shares in common with an M3 is the shape and badging.

We could insure it on the Canadian plates but based on very specific details and after that only if it passed the MFK and was matriculated onto Swiss numbers.

OK, you joined the forum just for this post! What is your connection with this website?

If I were the OP I would talk to Saint7UK, he will fix you up if anyone can, he even spoke on the phone with me at 23.45 on a Sunday night, as I wanted to pick up a new motorbike the following morning. Amazing service!

Re: best car insurance for a bmw m3?

Yeah, I'd agree with Fatman. Myself, I have been with AXA Winterthur for at least 15 years for a whole string of BMWs, including my current M3. A couple of scrapes and a bunch of windscreens, never a problem, but that doesn't mean there aren't others just as good, maybe better.

As a side note, the DMV is going to want certification for all the non-OEM modifications that make up the RS46, so I'd get RD Italia to give you all the papers, if indeed the RS46 has been certified in Germany and Switzerland.
