Health Insurance at Novartis

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody working at Novartis has heard/joined a particular health insurance with whom the company has special agreements. I thought that with so many employees there should be some kind of deal for getting a Swiss health insurance for Novartis workers.

If this is the case, has anybody had any experience? How does the "Novartis insurance" package compare with standard packages? Can dependants of the employee join the same package as in a family coverage deal?

Many thanks for your comments.

Regards,

Gigi.

As I understood they have an agreement with a specific insurance company (I don't remember the name but I can ask if you are interested) and with the Novartis discount it costs more or less the same as other companies, but this company is supposed to be better.

Actually, after I read more threads I found this SWICA Insurance

Yep, it's SWICA, the company name, they even say something about this in the thread.

Re: Health Insurance at Novartis

Maybe when you first move to CH its the easiest thing to take the package but I disagree that they are supposed to be better. The best thing is to decide what you want from your insurance then compare what is available.

We had Swica (Novartis deal) for a number of years then woke up to the fact that as we hardly ever use the insurance we could get all the cover we needed at a substantially reduced price. Since changing, we have been more than happy with the new company. The only substantial difference being that they take a couple of weeks longer to reimburse.

If you are able, I'd advise you to have a look at other insurers too.

Would it be possible to get the insurance company name that you switched to?

Thanks in advance.

YOu can use the comparis tool for that if you already have a quote, since I use the health services often for me it was really good.

Been here 5 years & my husband is in the insurance business. SWICA is the most expensive by a very long shot for the same product that others offer. You can save alot by switching.

Swica claim to never apply age-related increases, and to have one excess for all your policies with them (rather than one per policy). Whether this any different from other insurers, I don't know.

Re: Health Insurance at Novartis

Hi all,

thanks for your reply and sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

From what you say it seems then that SWICA is better in terms of service, but the Novartis deal is not that great when compared to other insurance providers. I will check what they offer when I start at Novartis and then decide whether their deal is better than what I find on Comparis.

Thanks a lot for your comments.

Re: Health Insurance at Novartis

The insurance agency at Novartis offer SWICA for health cover (and AXA for everything else).

* SWICA standard rates are not always more expensive than others, it depends on your circumstances
* Can choose between all the levels and types of cover that SWICA offer
* Can cover whole family
* Discount from SWICA advertised rates
* Pay monthly rather than annually in advance
* Policy documents in English
* Not locked in to additional elements for several years as is common with other companies

In all, they might not be the best or most suitable, but for the first period till you know exactly what you want, could be a good starting point
