| | Best Health Insurance Companies?
As a newbie, I need health insurance. I know that the basic policies all seem to cover the same things...BUT I am interested in knowing which companies seem to provide good service and that you have had good experience with (communicate well, are organised, don't hassle you over and over, etc.).
A lot of people seem to not like Assura ('you get what you pay for' with 'poor communication and customer service'), but what about the other companies? People seem to really like Swica. Are there any other companies that feature high on the totem pole?
I am really interested in complementary natural medicine as well (whether that may influence your response or not).
Cheers.

I have also paid for and downloaded an article in German from KTipp (I don't read German) about how people are satisfied with their health care companies (or not). I am that keen to pick the right company.
I was really looking for personal experiences rather than a website who lists sponsored health care companies (not completely partial).
Thanks.

Hi,
What do you want? An insurance which is cheep and okey sevice or a slightly expenses one with a good service.
Do you wish to be privat, semi prived or just generally?
My experiance are: Group Mutuel which is cheep and okey
Or Sanitas or CSS with higher standard.
But this is just my opinion.
In switzerland you can change insurance every year. Just need to cancel it before end of november for generall insurance. For additional you need to cancel it befor end of september.
That you can do when you are young without special illness. If not the new insurance will excude some illness.
Hope i could help you a bit.
Good luck |

Good luck | | | | | I'm not really looking for prices. That I can do with lots of websites. I'm just interested in service, communication, nice manners, quick reimbursement, etc.
I do not want to get knowingly involved with a difficult company only to have to change within a year after (I have read horror stories of people trying to cancel Assura for example with lots of issues and Assura not responding). I am not interested in that sort of service, if indeed it is true.

I guess it's depend on your RM too. Try to meet up with an insurance person and the one you thing is honest to you will be the suitable one. Those who just want to sell their product will not provide the service you like.

I've been insured with both ÖKK and Sympany for basic insurance, and they've both been excellent. Bills go to them directly and they bill me for my bit.

I used the two companies at separate times. I only moved because I changed employer.

We've had basic telmed through Sanitaas and found them good. They pay reimbursements quickly. A bit limited hours on phone access (seems to be the case for many services here), but they're also responsive to emails in English so I find that's easiest because I can contact them when it's convenient for me and don't have to wait on the phone.

I've been with what is now Sanitas for 46 years, never had any grounds at all for complaints. With Health Insurances Companies it's simple - what you gain on the roundabouts you lose on the swings.

I have been with Helsana for basic and supplementary for years and very happy with their service - they are not cheap but anytime I was ill everything went very smoothly.
I personally find that separating basic from supplementary can be a hassle, especially for some hospitals. But thats just me.

I didn't have much luck with CSS as I had initially selected them because my husband was with them (they also happened to be the cheapest on comparis). CSS rejected me for additional coverage when I selected a 300 deductible. FYI, I have no health conditions and am very healthy. I had been deemed "higher risk" because of my "unusual" selection of such a low deductible (I'm risk averse).
I ended up going with Swica based upon a recommendation from a friend. My customer service representative here in Zug is really good (let me know if you'd like his contact). He has really fast turn around of responses, excellent English, and takes care of all my enquiries. He also spent a good deal of time upfront with me determining the best package to suit my needs.
The billing is ridiculously easy and anytime I have a bill to submit (i.e. dentist bill), I send it to my representative and he takes care of it.
So I would recommend Swica. On a side note: their prices are definitely not the cheapest and fell within the mid range based on all the quotes I received from various companies but I'm definitely happy with the customer service.

I just switched to CSS from Innova and the rest of the family have been with CSS from the start. No complaints so far and they have been clear and fast in response to any enquiries.

I have had EasySana (Group Mutuel) for the last couple of years. They were cheap, but I haven't been happy with them. They spelled my name wrong in the paperwork and were not quick to fix it, they never sent me an ID card until I hassled them, they would send me their correspondence in French though they knew I was in German-speaking Switzerland, they didn't provide address labels for sending in doctor's bills. All in all I thought not signs of an organization I want to have to deal with when I have a real problem. I am now looking into KPT. I had EGK prior to this. Liked them very much. Good organization, but I missed a cutoff date at age 60 to get semi-private coverage and their prices went up so I needed to change providers. Been using Innova for supplementary. Haven't dealt with them much but they seem decent. I want an organization that I can communicate with in English and via email, one that is easy to submit bills to and that sends me my end of year summary without trouble.

I'm with SWICA too and very happy. My SWICA advisor also speaks very well English - I think he is from there actually. The Basic insurance is for example with Assura lower, but I do prefer a bit of service too. When I call SWICA I get a person on the phone instead of call centre, and they have a direct number for your advisor.
They are slightly more expensive on the additional insurances, but I found they do pay out more in benefits under the additional covers. Their healthcare centre model is my preferred one - cheapest and you have a dedicated centre to call for an appointment with them. It's called Sante I believe out of my head.
If you want the contact details of my advisor with SWICA, let me know.
Cheers,
Duncan

Hi there
We also have Swica and are happy with it. It is a bit more expensive, but I like the service. And yes, the 24h medical advisor Sante24 is indeed very usefull, especially if you have young children!
