Can I claim travel costs back from my accident insurance? (And health insurance for that matter). I'm having to make a lot of trips to Bern for apointments after an accident & wondering if I can claim the train ticket costs back?

It really depends on both the insurance company and the level of insurance that you have (basic, half private or private).

Our insurance offers 'out of pocket' expenses of up to CHF100 per day whilst you are in hospital, and CHF200 per year for out of hospital expenses. I recently submitted a claim and just sent in a bunch of receipts, and it was paid without question.

Check your policy, and if you can claim make sure you get itemized receipts for everything.

Not sure about insurance, but when I had chemo and rads, i got forms from the ahv to reimburse us for trips to the doctor. Since it was a distance of 6 miles, we never filled out the forms. Might be worth checking with them.

For accident insurance through work with zero excess I suspect yes, they will even pay your salary if you can't work
