It's not. I've tried all avenues. Politeness, rudeness, just putting the phone down etc.

At least twice when I was particularly rude (but I didn't swear), the person persisted in phoning me back and then hanging up many times for the rest of the day.

The best thing is if they didn't call. They know I don't want their calls.
I guess the Swiss Health Insurance companies must be making a very attractive offer to these cold callers for selling supplementary insurance or for getting people to switch insurance companies.
Worked for me, maybe you need rude lessons! I hav a masters degree in the subject

I don't believe their master plan is to sell health insurance at all, they wish to sell you a life insurance policy savings plan. They just say health insurance to start the conversation & get an appointment. Commission on health insurance that can be cancelled each year would be peanuts.

I keep receiving their calls; they just don't give up anyway. But I am curious how can they get my number. I rarely fulfil any forms and do not have any membership card (not even Migro or Coop).

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

Attention, a few years ago an agency called and an employee has agreed an appointment with me later, did ring, and i did ring back. Specified service phone and I called them. At the end I had 55 francs for only 20 minutes at telephone bill. Watch out that you dont call somewhere !!!

I've got a Nobel prize for being rude and abusive to them.

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

Confirmed! Nuisance they are!

They keep calling me as well -only on my cellphone - (how they have that number I donot know). Every month they try, but I never pick up calls from numbers that I donot recognize / haven't stored.

They don't leave a message either. Since the same number kept on calling me, I decided to find out and rang them back, only to find out they are trying to sell health insurance / optimization.

Told them ''no effing interest'', but they kept insisting. So I told them to send documentation if they so must. But they didn't ask my (email)address ... and I never received anything by landmail either.

Hopefully that's it now.

Krankenkasse call center cold calls

I am receiving a spate of rather aggressive call center calls trying to save me 90chf premiums on my existing health insurance.

I guess they want to shift the broker of record to themselves and cash in on the commissions?

Yes, hanging up won't work. I might try talking in a foreign language next time.. or hochdeutsch. A caller once asked please can you speak dialect, because your hochdeutsch sounds arrogant and nauseating.

One kept calling me back every few minutes and then he hang up when I answered.

The Swiss health Insurance companies know about these practices yet they appear to condone them.

It's a pretty aggressive and unpleasant way to do business but hey, we live here and if it's the way it's done here then I guess we have to accept it.

Download the app called "Should I answer" - it has a database of known numbers and automatically blocks the call. If it's a new number you register to block the call and it won't come through again.

You could try this:

I never got past the third question before they hung up.

I received a letter yesterday from my insurance company saying Mr. Agent So and So was going to call me sometime between March 31 and June 30 to help me optimize my insurance plan. So they for sure know about it. Don't know why they're trying to sending me through an agent though.

Before this I just had someone call out of the blue. He was polite. Called a few times and then stopped.

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

you need to be careful with this, the letter may not even be from the insurance company. During the phone calls the marketing agent usually probes for information (name, address, insurance provider, costs) and subsequent calls they even pretend to be the insurance company. Once they send you an agent face to face they will try and sell you other insurance products..just be weary
