I think the point that some of us already appreciate that if a company has to resort to cold calling and persuasive sales tactics, they are not going to be offering the best, or cheapest product.

But did you get her number? After all, she's got yours so only seems fair.
Of course that's true - no harm in checking it out.

But I got a free coffee, 2 packages of salad dressing and some digits!!

Literally the biggest win I've made in Switzerland at no cost :P

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

hello, how can i protect (or try to) my number from such calls. I've read about a * to be added at the beginning of the number in a list.
can anyone tell me something more?

I keep receiving lot of such calls and i try always to be as polite as possible as they are also doing their work and it is always to be respected.
what i tell them is that i did already an assessment with a consultant and still I'm fine with my insurance profile/deal and i don't want to change it.
few gentle words and they give up, some time i need to be sharper as they keep insisting.

thanks

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

You'll probably find most people are pretty rude to these guys. They're making unsolicited phone calls, breaking the law and they deserve pretty much what they get.
I'm in the Romandie and get the calls in French. If I detect a North African accent, the call is generally from a call centre in Morocco, so I switch into English, or even into Swiss-German (you don't have to speak it very well, just say Chuchichästeli into the phone a couple of times) and have some fun with them. If the person at the other end does speak some English (very rare), switch into another language, or make one up.

I've installed local.ch app on my mobile. This app has "Detect telemarketing calls" option and I simply activated it. Seems to work as I have not received any cold calls in the last 2-3 months.

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

I got the same call from an agency collecting "statistics" on behalf of an insurance interest group or something like that. Went it got to the end the guy wanted my name and full contact details - I asked how he had gotten my number and he replied with "I'm just doing my job don't be difficult" My Swissness kicked-in and I hung up - haven't heard from them since.

If I remember correctly they once told me that it's the state of Switzerland that is giving them a mandate to check if you are paying too much

Re: Weird Calls about Optimizing health insurance

Hey guys,

I just got this call recently and I gave my birthday and name. Now I am scared they will use this data to scam my health insurance.

Is there a way to secure my data won't be used against me?

I don't know maybe they can contact my health insurance and cancel my insurance or create a contract for me without me knowing it... and one they i just receive a huge bill for nothing.
