Re: Health Insurance 2017

No, all usually work for kickbacks from the insurers. Especially for signing you up for supplementary, that gives especially big kickbacks, allowing them to make 5 digits a months on suckers who take it.

If it's just about basic insurance, then there's not much to think about. Take the cheapest one, with a free enough model for your taste.

Yeah, we got a big CHF 100 or so from Visana last year.

That's puzzling to me. I would think that those with lower deductibles would use healthcare services more, and thus cost more...and thus be subjected to bigger increases.
Seems to show higher premiums with lower deductibles are more profitable for insurance companies. Which could mean higher deductibles and lower premiums are actually more cost effective for some. (We pay for the peace of mind that we are covered) Of course, this is a gamble that we won't pay out of pocket as much as we pay per month in premiums...

Painful stats are out. Premiums are growing by an average of 4 percent in 2018.

Re: Health Insurance 2017

In October 2017 you should receive a letter from your health insurance
company stating the premiums you will be charged after 1.1.2018

You can change your insurance, in writing, before 30.11.2017. Which
means to be safe, the letter must be sent by registered post on or before
28th November.

Keep in mind you can often choose a cheaper policy by committing yourself
to going first to an appointed doctor or practise. HMO, TelMed etc.

I have promised Visana I will always contact the medical team SanaCare first.
In return I get a heavy discount. After about 7 years I am more than happy.

Remember, the insurance companies must all pay for the basic general health
cover as laid out in the government regulations. Buying an expensive policy
will not bring a better health care.

But the very cheap companies have fewer staff to answer your questions
and generally take much longer to payout for your claims.

Re: Health Insurance 2017

Maybe I am missing an important point here but how do the premiums for basic insurance increase much more than the inflation every year?
