Exemption renewal for Swisscare insurance

I am a postdoc (employed full-time, in Zurich) and I have been insured for 3 years with Swisscare, however this month I was informed by the cantonal authorities that my exemption has expired and I need to re-apply. The problem is that my next Swisscare payment is due in a week, which is before I will get the answer for my exemption renewal. I am now wondering whether Swisscare will reimburse my payment, in case my exemption renewal is rejected. Did anybody have an experience of this kind? Thank you.
