Re: can you recommend a home insurance policy ?

Hi guys,

Thank you for referencing a load of home insurance on this thread.

I'm moving to a new flat and the new landlord request I subscribe to 1 civil liability insurance (Responsabilite Civile in Geneva) + 1 household insurance (Menage in Geneva).
I had quote from Axa and Helvetia insurance companies but both of them offer me a -20% "discount" but for a 5 years contract without anniversary breaking clause which I found suspicious.
Is it something usual in Switzerland ?

Based on your feedback, I'll have a look and ask a quote to Mobiliar and SmileDirect.

Ikea offers a comprehensive cover. Reasonable price and reliable as Swiss re is behind it.

I have La Mobiliere and they might not be the cheapest but they helped me a lot when I left my old apartment in dealing with the Regie trying to have me pay some stuff that was as old as the Queen.

In my opinion having household insurance is a pure personal decision. What kind of risk does the landlord think this insurance would cover which might be of his concern?
