Hi
I've fallen out with Vaudoise and need a new home insurance policy
It needs to cover contents and fixtures and fittings as I'm the property owner.
Can anyone recommend anyone ?

Friend of mine. Nice chap. Office in Zug.
I have my workshop and the rest insured trough him. (Allianz is the main insurer)
You can mention Vizart Werbetechnik if you decide to talk to him.

I love Helvetia and i love Mobilia...
Good experiences with both when making claims, and neither is jaw-droppingly expensive.

Zurich Direct - now just Zurich - has the advantage of doing everything online, in a language of your choice.
Prices were competetive. Can't comment on the claims process though, we've not been unlucky.

I'm with smile.ch. Easy, cheap, unocomplicated, all via internet but they got this online-chat-window for special questions. And once they even called me to tell me that I ordered an extra insurance I don't need - now THAT was unsusual!

They'll get much more back in additional premiums by increased customer retention from you plus mouth-to-mouth promotion than what they gave up.
You can see Mobiliar in a similar light, I usually get around 5% back (deduction from the following year's premium), similar to those moronic "get 5k in extras free by buying our ridiculously overpriced car". However their rates and conditions were among the best when I checked (note to self: it's ten years since, time to re-check) and I very much prefer their business model to standard for-profit.

Thumbs up for Mobiliar.
As of new we had 4 claims with them and every single time the resolution (cash) came within days and was fully satisfying. Also very little paperwork if at all.
But I guess this is not really out of standard in Switzerland. I also had 3 claims with vehicle insurance resolved quickly and without hassle. Same for several claims to travel insurance - delayed or damaged bags, all paid.
If I were to be picky, perhaps the travel insurance was a bit of a hassle as they required filling lengthy forms for a minor claim. But paid up so all was fine.

I guess insurance companies love you, expect to be refused cover if you have any more claims.......... If that happens you will be stuffed as most other insurance companies won't touch you with a barge pole.

I guess insurance companies love you | | | | | And I love them. We have a mutual relationship ;-).
BTW the vehicle claims were of third party insurances, not mine. Each was a different one, but all were pleasant to work with.
And if you need to know, I do keep all of my insurances in different companies.

Another vote for Mobiliar from my side.
They didn't asked me to sign for an over insured product originally, are easily reachable by local phone number (and yes, it's local offices taking the calls, not Swiss centralized or somewhere in Eastern Europe..) - and when I had actually a case to report, they paid out without asking too many questions (and, to top that off, very fast)
Definitely can recommend.

Could I hop on this thread perhaps and ask a question on contents insurance/home insurance. We are insured with helvetia through a broker but it has gone up 110chf this year after going up the same last year. From what we read there is usually a 3month cancellation period but this can be revoked if there is an increase in premium with increase in the cover, does anyone have any insight?

It is in there if it exists.

Otherwise, notice has to be given 3months in advance, which seems a bit much, when you only get the new premium cost 5weeks before the current contract ends

CSS is also good. Often, if you get household and liability insurance from the same provider as your health insurance, they'll give you a discount.

Mobiliar,-mEvery time for everything, really excellent service and as a Mutual company all policy holders benefit from a share in profits which is reflected in rebate to premiums on motor or buildings policies.
Shame they do not do medical cover.
Best
