Health / Medical Insurance during relocation

We are leaving Switzerland in mid-June and have just contacted our insurers (Groupe Mutual) to cancel our policies. But there is a problem....

We leave the country on the 15th, but don't arrive in our new home country of New Zealand until the 18th, after the flights and "one night in Bangkok"

So the problem is that we won't have health / medical insurance from 15th until we are covered again by our NZ citizenship on the 18th. Ideally we want some sort of coverage in case one of us falls ill while travelling or in Thailand.

I have spoken to our content insurance company and they have kindly confirmed that our luggage will all be covered insurance-wise providing we pay until the end of June. So we had hoped that the same would be true of the medical insurance, but alas no, Groupe Mutual has told us that our policy will terminate as soon as we leave the country.

So does anyone know what companies will offer short-term travel (medical) insurance to someone without a country of residence?? Every one that I have looked at requires you to state your country of residence....which we won't have for those 3 days!

Thanks AnAustralian, guess I still need to check if this applys to us though:
"We provide travel insurance to residents of New Zealand who are already overseas"
To top it off our address in NZ will be a hotel....

Re: Health / Medical Insurance during relocation

OK, a check of the policy wording would suggest we are not eligible:

A New Zealand resident is a person who is living in New
Zealand
and is either: a New Zealand citizen or a permanent
visa holder.
Someone who is on a visa or permit which allows you access
to all publicly funded health and disability services in New
Zealand and is valid until after your end date of insurance.
New Zealand residents who can purchase these covers
if your journey commences and ends in New Zealand

Re: Health / Medical Insurance during relocation

You arent from New Zealand then? Thought from your name you might be.
Im going home soon, and we have the same company in Australia. They are prepared to cover me. So maybe call them and explain your situation, but it probably helps you are a citizen returning home. Maybe they have a different policy that might apply to your situation.
