Can I claim reimbursements from insurance after leaving CH?

I will leave Switzerland permanently in June. Let's say I go to my doctor in May or beginning of June, still in the coverage period of my health insurance (Assura). The bill often comes one month later, so likely after I have left Switzerland and cancelled my insurance. I will receive the bill through my friend and pay it. But can I still claim a reimbursement of the bill from the insurance company given that my insurance plan has been cancelled at the time I submit the claim?

This scenario will happen because my wife and child will need to go to doctors very close to our departure.

You got the appointment when you were still insured so yes, you should be imbursed for that. Just ask the doctor to send the bill quickly, maybe then you can send it to the insurer when you are still here

Yes! It's no problem to send bill later.

So in principal yes...however you like me are with Assura...the worst health insurance company in Switzerland, the ones who will do anything not to accept cover for treatments, hated by all doctors I know. Good luck!
Actually, you should actually contact them in advance and explain that this will be the scenario and state "I take it this will be no problem for reimbursement, right?!"
