I used iCarhireinsurance.com as recommended on the Martin Lewis money expert site
Got cover immediately - it did not go through correctly on the website, so phoned them up, turned out it is cheaper than in UK due to VAT rates
Got paperwork via e-mail on the same day
Cost was around 35 for one year European, and it is a little more for worldwide, you can also change it from European to Worldwide part way through the year
Hope this helps
Cheers
Neil
They have confusing wording - Mechanical breakdown due to wear and tear or malfunction not covered but Towing and Breakdown cover included as standard!

Good option to WWI who, as BlueAngel said, do not cover Swiss residents anymore

Your Swiss insurance will give you emergency health cover up to twice the cost of Switzerland. It's just for lost baggage, not had travel insurance except for the USA in the last 25 years.
So can you buy an additional insurance just for the duration of the trip? Are there any other countries than USA with high healthcare costs where 2x Swiss rate would not be enough? I can buy the Assura Mondia for 7 CHF per month and if it will only help to cover USA then maybe it's really not worth it.

Re: Travel insurance - is it worth it?

Does anyone know of a Swiss or European travel insurance that includes cover for gadgets (lost or stolen during your stay)? My UBS Travel insurance specifically excludes phones, tablets, cameras, laptops etc..

Some British insurers offer it, but only for gadgets purchased in the UK and some will only cover UK residents.
