Car Insurance for Student

Hi,

I am Dal, a student from Spain. I brought my car to Switzerland and I am dealing with all the paperwork. I went to the customs office and got a temporary permit until September 2019. After that I contacted an Insurance but they won't cover me with a temporary permit, which I can only get by paying full taxes instead of reduced taxes (student).

Is there any insurance not demanding a permanent permit from customs?

Thanks!!

Dal

Re: Car Insurance for Student

The problem: As long as it is on Spanish plates no Swiss insurance can cover you. Check if an insurance from Spain is willing to cover you. This is allowed as you have a customs permit and you are a student.

If an insurance in Spain does not work you will need "Z-Paltes"/"Z-Schilder".

Contact the agent/local office of a major insurance company (Zurich, Axa, Generalli, Mobiliar, Vaud) to get insurance cover on Z-Plates. Insurances which are sold over internet/Telephone only may not work in this situation.
