Re: Pet Insurance

Thought you may be interested in this comparison table that was given to us by the Mobiliar insurance. It's in German but it is quite extensive. One word of caution though...we signed up with Generali, but the insurance ended up being with Epona and everything goes through them.

Mobiliar sounds good, but they have a 200 CHF excess per case, not per year as the others do. I queried it because it really didn't make sense as it means that if you have a string of smaller issues you can virtualy never claim, or only small amounts. The other insurers' excesses are per calendar year, which makes a lot of sense.

Re: Pet Insurance

We have been with Epona for a few years. Previously, they were very good, processed claims quickly and covered two of our cats who developed chronic inflammatory disorders and required surgeries.

Now, we have been waiting 4 months for a claim following the death of our beloved cat - I have phoned multiple times and chase monthly by email but am just told they are busy so there are delays.

Re: Pet Insurance

I've never made a claim with Epona but we went with them when we got our rescue frenchie.
Because it's older than 8 years they asked for a vet report before providing the full cover.. We got the vet report, sent it back and it took 9 months for them to acknowledge the report re-issue the full policy!

I'm sure it would have been interesting if we'd claimed during that 9 months.

I had the same; they used to be very good but having lost 2 critters within 5 months in 2019/20, they were terrible, lost paperwork, took months to get any payment out of them.
As a result, when I was looking to insure the ship's kitten, I asked our vet at the Tierklinik in Chur which company they recommended, and they unequivocally recommended Animalia (which is Vaudoise). I've claimed for castration and vaccinations, and they've paid up in 3-6 weeks.

Re: Pet Insurance

We are waiting months for reimbursement from Epona. Their answer is they will get to it by the end of the year.

So when the bill comes for next year's premium I feel like telling them we would like to pay it in 6 months.

Complaining to them seems to be pointless.

They used to be really good, going back 8 or 9 years. Something's clearly happened in the organisation, and I simply cannot recommend them any more. More worrying for them, neither can the vets.
