Freelance Artist Insurance

Hello everyone, does anybody has an experience with the insurance for a freelance artists (specifically musicians) ?
At the moment Im young and healthy, but its changing
Im a musician and my income mostly comes from gigs/projects I play. What if I have an injury, and have to cancel my gigs for few months ?

Re: Freelance Artist Insurance

If you're registered as a resident in Switzerland you're required to have the mandatory insurance or the municipality can sign you up for one - and it might not be the least expensive or what you want.

I think you are talking about health insurance, which I of course have. What I mean is more injury-unable to work insurance. If you work e.g. in bakery, get some more serious illness and have to stay home for one month or longer, you still get your salary (or part of it). If I get sick and cancel my projects, I get nothing..

Re: Freelance Artist Insurance

Ah, you're looking for some sort of lost wages insurance. No idea what that's called here in German, French or Italian, but there seems to be insurance for everything in Switzerland so I am sure it exists. Hopefully someone knows what it's called and can point you in the right direction.

Re: Freelance Artist Insurance

It is expensive and it is called Taggeld-Versicherung.

But have a look for yourself at SMV: https://smv.ch/service/versicherunge...-musikerinnen/

Thank you. If I understand well, this is my case:
Selbständigerwerbende müssen sich für Erwerbsausfall wegen Unfall oder Krankheit selber versichern.

Any ideas/opinions on which insurance company could I try to approach ?

Ask SMV. They should know. If you are not a member already, you should become one.
