Car insurance - Paying for parking insurance or paying for a parking?

Hi all,
We are about to buy a 2nd hand 43K CHF car (Mercedes GLA200) for 21k CHF (mint condition, 2014, 15000 km). It is our first "nice" car so we're evaluating our options regarding parking/insurance. We don't have indoor parking at our place (Geneva city) but a Macaron résident for our current old car which we are selling this week.

We're mainly worried about the car being damaged because of being parked in the street. Our old car has had some scratches and minor damage because of this but we didn't care much as it was an old one.

Our options so far:

1) Indoor parking at public parking: 2600 CHF/YR and casco complète insurance, about 750CHF with 2000 deductible. Total 3350 a year, here I don't think the car would be damaged.

2) Parking in the street (200CHF/Year) + Insurance with full casco and parking damage covered (Dommages de stationnement) with Zurich for about 1200 CHF/Yr covering 2 parking incidents, up to 1000 CHF covered per incident (no deductible for parking damage). Total 1400/Year and hoping that the scratches it gets are less than 1000chf in repairs and less than twice a year, and that we don't have any problems claiming these repairs to the insurance.

I'd like to know your opinion or any better options I might have not thought about, of maybe your personal experiences. 2600CHF/YR for parking really hurts me -I could do so much with this money -

What would you do? Thanks!

I don't know the area at all, but is there perhaps a private space in a garage nearby (not public parking) that you could rent? Sometimes private individuals rent out spaces they are not using. Some examples and maybe possibilities on immoscout:

don't forget that cars are meant to be driven and you need to park wherever you go. for that reason, option 1 only makes sense if you want a guaranteed, dry parking space.

if you are worried about the cost in general, better buy an older car.

This is super weird.
Paying 1200CHF to get max 2000CHF possibly refunded for damages?
Either you read something incorrectly or they are plain crap.

Go with AXA and have full parking damage coverage regardless of count and damage costs, no deductible.

Even if you have indoor parking which is 100% risk free of scratches (if such a thing exists), don't forget you will probably park it elsewhere when you are out and about so I would get cover for all those eventualities, too.

Re: Car insurance - Paying for parking insurance or paying for a parking?

AFAIK casco complète is always based on the list price when the car was new, so you pay premium on 43k value, but the payout decreases by age; at age 5 it's usually no longer worth it. You probably want to ask the insurance how much the payout would be if you wrecked the car this year, or next.
