Health Insurance on G Permit, Applying After 3 months

Hey all!

I searched the forum and couldn't find anyone with a similar experience, so thought I'd check on here...

I started work in Switzerland (Geneva) at the start of June, and applied for my G permit (live in France). Due to the summer holidays, the HR manager not sending it and a delay in sending me the permit through the delightful French postal system etc, I didn't get all of the documentation until just after the 3 months had expired. I can show this is the case too, via emails from my employers.

I tried to apply with Healthsana and they told me no, it's too late and to contact Service de l’assurance-maladie in Geneva, which I've done via email.

Has anyone else had anything like this? I knew I had to make a decision within 3 months, but simply didn't have the documentation. Alas.

Re: Health Insurance on G Permit, Applying After 3 months

An update for those who search/find this in the future and have the same issue

1) Still not solved! I am now trying to get rejected from the French system, and will visit the local CPAM offices tomorrow. No idea what will happen, but lets see
2) SAM in Geneva are best contacted by post of telephone, email doesn't seem to work at all
3) All communication goes to your work address in Switzerland, which is fun.
4) I can't really even find people to help on this. I'd happily pay an advisor to get it sorted, but the closest I've found is http://myproject.pro

Still have no idea what I' doing, and this whole deal is a pain in the backside - but I'll post another update when it hopefully gets solved to help others who end up in this situation. As a side note, had a severe accident last week and was very thankful for my UK/EHIC card when visiting a french hospital!

I don't see what was the problem. I had health insurance 6 months before I got a permit.

I didn't get the documentation until a few days after 3 months, which is causing issues.

Things I wish I'd known in the past... but that's how it goes! I need to get the signature from the local French CPAM office to say I can join the Swiss system, which I imagine isn't exactly easy. Fun times, I expect to visit them tomorrow and get told to go away.

What documentation? As far as I remember I didn´t need anything to sign up for health insurance (well, the insurance contract then)

Just make sure you are not forced into a French scheme you do not want

From my employers, a form to fill out to tell the Geneva health authorities that I want to join the Swiss system. I simply tried to sign up with Healthsana and uncovered a world of pain.

At this point, just being part of any would be useful!

Maybe forum member Jenny can help. She's an independent insurance broker, and she's very knowledgeable.

I’ll send her a message, thanks

To clarify - this is the form that needs to be signed. I visited my local CPAM office (Haute Savoie, Cluses) and they told me I need to fill out an E106 form and send to Annecy. When googling... I apparently can only get that when I have insurance.

Never before have I been so perplexed.

Hi, having a similar issue, have you gotten any further?

I received all the documents in time, but - I did not realise it would take CPAM 6 weeks (possible more) to return the document to me, signed. So, today is my last day of submitting my choice and I can't as I have not received the documents from CPAM yet.

Tried calling SAM, but could not get through. I emailed them, but no telling when I might get an answer. Bit nervous, do not want to be forced into a plan as I most likely would be exempt (low paying internship for 6 months, EU citizen with EU health insurance card).
