Never again Allianz and Elvia can anyone recommend others?

I will not go into all the details of how these two companies are only after selling and not giving a flying fig about the customers. We have been here less than two years and are pretty clueless (my husband is Swiss but was away for 15 years).

It's enough to say when the Allianz broker came to my house, I should have kicked him out when I heard him say to my husband the word "Albanischen". Only afterwards my husband explained me that he had mentioned that because he wanted to sell the extra insurance package so that if we were in a hospital we didn't have to be in a room with an Albanian and all his/her family.

The same guy was very upset when I said "can we take the time to sign the papers for how much time are we committing?" To which he said three for the health insurance, turned out to be five, but that's my fault for not reading the paperwork.

Same salesy attitude we got from Elvia, long story.

My question, in the end, has anyone had better experiences with other companies?

Why donīt you just use websites like Comparis?

Obviously if you invite a broker into your house, he wants to sell. Or if you want to work with a broker, find one that is independent and doesnīt sell from one company only.

Yes, thank you for your answer. I later tried the online route, found Elvia through Comparis and had same sales attitude, they'll tell you anything to close a deal.

Is it too much these days to ask of a business to serve the customer needs, or should the constant expectation be that you need to be on alert?

The broker will sell you anyyyyyyything

They just brokered for CSS in our case

Seems you do not have a problem with Allianz or Elvia offering per se. Your problem is with sales tactics.

And given the broker sold you Allianz and CSS insurance, I guess he is not affiliated to either and just a pushy freelance guy. Avoid such outfits.

Nevertheless, to answer your question we are happy with Zurich.

Re: Never again Allianz and Elvia can anyone recommend others?

Never sign anything before you have read and understood all documents, clauses, and general terms and conditions. If this takes a week, it shall take a week. It is certainly not doable in an hour or two. A good agent will not pressure you and give you all the time needed. If not, show him where the mason left a hole and the carpenter put a nice door.

Was this a guy from a Generalagentur? If yes report him also to his superior. Btw. I am happy with Mobiliar.

Add AXA to the list based on my experience. The maxim is "buyer beware" even in Switzerland!
