Help - Car insurance cancelled

Hello
We just received notice that our insurance company has cancelled our car insurance due to too many claims... Unfortunately if I would have known this was possible I would have paid out of pocket :-(

Now, I have 14 days to find new insurance and am worried we won't find any company to take us

Please help!! - are there any options to only get the basic coverage?

Given the situation that we are now likely "high risk" I understand I will likely have to pay a huge amount - but not being able to drive and having to hand in our plates is not really an option!

Any ideas or advice would be really helpful as I am now under huge time pressure

thanks

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

2 claims for two parking accidents... one involving small damage to another car and our own and one involving only our car...

no injuries, police, fines, etc...

The issue seems to be purely the cost of repairs... I should have just paid out of pocket - i was not aware of this possible outcome

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

Are they cancelling the whole insurance, or just the extras?

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

Some insurances offer 1 parking claim per year "free", as in without any further consequence for your insurance.

Hi,

try a quick search on Comparis and contact directly the insurance hotline: https://en.comparis.ch/autoversicherung/default

Your old one seems really too restrictive...

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

A bit late for you now but it's usually not worth having the insurance pay, unless the amount is clearly more than they tell you the premium increase will cost over the coming three years.

The calculation depends on your position on the bonus ladder and how it's staggered, but unless your bonus is maxed out the cost in additional premiums shown is too small anyway, far too small if your bonus small or even negative.

Ours allows for two per year.

You seem to be in a steady relationship - simply have your OH take out the insurance. Any grownup can, no drivers licens or whatever required. Keep car ownership as is, otherwise you may have to do an inspection (MFK).

Really?
I haven't had mine for even a year and I already had to claim twice.
No effect to my bonus or whatever. (at least so they claim for now! )
I did take out full parking kasko however, as I must park on the streets.
Btw AXA.

??? why would you make multiple claims, most people wait until they are about to sell the car or hand it back to the lease company then get everything done at the same time, 1 claim

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

Our car insurance (Allianz suise)cancelled once our policy due to too many claims. We have been with them for 5 years and climed twice, some parking scratches. Than I made third clime , stone hit my window and I had to change it. After that it came cancellation letter. They gave us 3 months and believe me we couldn8217;t find any insurance, no one wanted to insure our car. Finally we managed to find one to insure our car.

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

I am sure you will be able to find a insurer, but the premium would be high due to the number of claims.. I thought that glass damage and natural disasters are not accounted as the cause was beyond your control.

Reading this makes me worried.. I have made 3 claims this year.. 1 window, 2 for animal/marten damage

Because it's ugly for me to watch those scratches (And they were quite strong in both cases) on my beautiful red Mazda3.
And I am paying to be covered fully for the parking damage, so I will definitely use my right (and test their claims it does not affect my bonus et al.).

Might reconsider my approach in the future though, given the experiences you guys are sharing... :/
(because it seems it might hurt me, not them )

P.S. (and an important one at that I believe; as I recalled just now) In the first occasion the person incurring the damage actually left their contact (thank you, person), so the claim went to their insurance. So that would actually mean I claimed only once from mine - my bad on the misinformation!

Re: Help - Car insurance cancelled

thanks for the advice so far...

I will start to shop around to find a new company or insurance broker to insure us... I know this will be difficult or costly..

if anyone has been in this situation and has specific companies or brokers that you were successful will please let me know.

The company I was with was Sympany -- I went with them because I have all my other insurances through them and thought this would count for something

Keep car ownership as is, otherwise you may have to do an inspection (MFK).
Ownership and MFK are not related at all. You can transfer ownership w/o informing anyone. On the other hand you can change the registered holder w/o transferring ownership.

PS: These days (since 1. May 2012 https://www.admin.ch/opc/de/official.../2012/1825.pdf) an MFK upon change of holder is only triggered when one is due anyway.
