Personal and Household Insurance coverage on Bathroom damage

Good day,

I just accidentally chipped my bathtub on my rented apartment.
Anyone knows if my personal liability or Household insurance should cover for this?

My Personal liability insurance includes gross negligence,... but as the damage item is part of my rental apartment I am not sure if its covered... I would like to know before contacting my insurer.

Thanks a lot!
Sebastian.

Houshold insurance covers your stuff.
Liability insurance covers other people's stuff.

If not sure if it is covered read the terms and condition of your contract.

Re: Personal and Household Insurance coverage on Bathroom damage

Hey Roegner,

Thanks for your reply. I checked already some products at the Bau+hobby but couldn't find one that was more than just a paint.

You think I can find a product to repair it to the point you can't see the chip? (and not notice it was repaired?)

In any other case I would need to pay for the repair, so in that case I would prefer to check whether the insurance I have already covers this.

Thanks for your help

You are the only one on this forum who knows the conditions of your insurances.

You damaged someone else's property (your landlord's), that means, your liability insurance should kick in. If you can't fix it DIY and can't read the terms/conds of your policy, I'd give the insurer a call and hear, what they sey, then take it from there? You might have a deductible, meaning that part of the cost of the repairs comes out of your own pocket.

Thank you very much. That was exactly what I was not sure about.. Whether the property was considered a third party covered item or not.

Best!
