New insurance coverage, need to cancel old coverage

Hello,
I've been paying for Swiss insurance on my own (CSS), but my wife recently got a job and her insurance (UNIQA) now extends to me. I'm currently covered by both but would like to cancel my CSS coverage ASAP.
I've heard some horror stories about this process so before I go emailing CSS, I wanted to check here to see if there is anything I should know or prepare beforehand.

Thanks!

Just sent a registered letter stating that you cancel and ask them to confirm. Check out per when you can cancel (not sure if that is only per 31.12 for the mandatory insurance).

Agree, but I would include the circumstances, telling them that you will remain covered.

Thanks. So you think I'll have to keep paying for redundant coverage through the rest of the year?

No, you need to check that as you should have only one insurance. So either you can cancel the old one now, or stop the new one and only start it as from the end date of the old insurance.
