Cancelling Contents and Personal Liability Insurance

Hi,
We are leaving Switzerland this year but the exact date is not yet known.
I have just given notice on my contents and personal liability insurance (in good time) and apparently I need to forward a copy of my official cancellation of my permit and bank details before the cancellation can be done.

Kinda not clear on why this is necessary, and in any case I don't have it yet.

Anyone come across this before?

Re: Cancelling Contents and Personal Liability Insurance

Did you cancel before the insurance was due to be renewed?

Yes, several months before. But I made that clear that I simply wasn't renewing it, not that I was cancelling it as of right now.

I seem to remember that any paid but unused premium is refundable in such a case. Perhaps check your contract or enquire.

Which could be why they ask for the cancellation of the permit

Re: Cancelling Contents and Personal Liability Insurance

It may be on an automatic roll extension. For that kind of contract, it's quite common for it to be annual, to start with, but thereafter to continue automatically, in which case the initial termination date no longer applies. What does your contract say?
