SUVA - second opinion

Are you entitled to have a second medical opinion paid for if your accident treatment is covered by SUVA?

Probably if you can justify it......but to do that you need to get a second opinion.

Re: SUVA - second opinion

If the first opinion is from a specialist, but your G.P. has doubts, that might be a sufficient justification to be sent to a second specialist.

Have you actually already been turned down, in a request for a second opinion? If so, with what justification?

Even though this is a SUVA case, and if you have been turned down and can't seem to shake that, have you asked your regular medical insurance if they would pay for the second opinion?

In general, the attitude to second opinions seems to have shifted. Whereas in the past they were regarded as nonsense objections by the silly patient, they are now much more considered reasonably and sensible medicine, so that many doctors and insurers actually welcome them.
