Chosing a Doctor

Hello,

I recently moved to Switzerland (about a month ago) and I just got my insurance but have not chosen a base doctor. I am unsure about how the process to select a doctor works. I have seen some names online but i am unsure if you select them randomly or you contact them to see if they would be available to be your base doctor. Has anyone had experience on this subject?

Thanks in advanced for the kind help!

Do you have to choose a specific doctor for your insurance or are you free to choose? If the insurance has the requirement that you need to go for one doctor first, they will normally send you a list to choose from.
Just make sure they take on new patients (give them a call)?

Re: Chosing a Doctor

To find a home doctor can take up to a few months if you are not recommended by an existing patient, from my experience, I had to call all doctors in my area and managed to make an initial appointment 3 months later. it is true that a lot of them are so flat out they don't accept new patients. it's better to get it organised soon than later, good luck!
