Accident on maternity leave /accident insurance question

I am wondering how it works when I have an accident while on maternity leave. I have 18 days left of my leave and then I will leave my company, as they don't offer part-time or unpaid leave. Now I've had an accident and wondering if the insurance will continue paying me my salary after my employment ends or if I have to hop my way to the unemployment office to do get that? I will be unable to work for 3 months.
Having surgery tomorrow. I am covered by their insurance after leaving the company for 30 days and then I will sign for another 3 months on top to continue the same insurance through this accident.

Thank you for your replies.

When your child is born you are entitled to daily allowances under:
• unemployment insurance;
• disability insurance;
• accident insurance;
• military insurance, or to
• compensation payments for persons performing military or civilian service,
maternity benefit will take precedence over these benefits and will come to at least the same amount as the daily allowance you were receiving
previously.

If you receive maternity benefit as an employee, you will continue to be covered by mandatory accident insurance while you are on maternity leave.
So in your case you will continue to benefit from the maternity benefits for the whole maternity leave. After, if eligible and still unable to work, you will receive the accident insurance benefits.

Mandatory accident insurance benefits don't end with unemployment.

Great, thank you so much. Then I'm not panicking. I was not sure how this works and my company also did not inform me about this. The situation is bad enough as it is, with a new baby in the house
Happy new year!

Be sure to ask your doctor for a referral to Spitex. They can help you out at home, which you probably need with a baby. Sorry to hear about your accident and wishing you a successful operation and speedy recovery.

Correct me if I am wrong. You say you have maternity leave but as you are now sick it becomes now sick leave. So the you can get these days back ( from your employer ) from your maternity leave from the time of your accident to the end of your maternity leave. I had that once when I was sick in my holiday leave and I got back ( credited ) these days that I was sick.

Accident insurance is completely diferent than sickness insurance

The lady had an ACCIDENT, she appears not to be sick.

seems she has no rights here. "Sickness: Is maternity leave extended?"

Re: Accident on maternity leave /accident insurance question

Here are some extracts of a brief article on the UNIA (trade union) website (in German).
https://www.workzeitung.ch/2017/09/m...tzliches-geld/
The question was which insurance pays in this situation (which seems similar to that of OP):
Ich habe noch drei Wochen Mutterschaftsurlaub. Wegen eines Verkehrsunfalls vor drei Tagen hat mich mein Arzt voraussichtlich für 4 Wochen arbeitsunfähig geschrieben.
I have three more weeks of maternity leave. Because of a car accident three days ago, my doctor has written me off work for 4 weeks.
The maternity benefits will continue to be paid out and run for the normal duration of 14 weeks. In your case, this means you will receive another three weeks' maternity benefits. After that, you will receive a further week of daily allowances out of the accident insurance (or longer, as long as you can show a further doctor's certificate).
As I understand it, an accident insurance's responsibility starts when the accident occurred, and all those costs must be covered by that accident insurance, irrespective of how long they continue - even beyond the duration of the employment contract.

Unemployment insurance is not relevant here, at all, because it is paid only to people who are able to work, so being unable to work through illness or accident precludes one from drawing unemployment benefits.

That should keep you safe. However, if this

is merely your plan, but you have not yet actually resigned, then I recommend that you do not resign until all this is sorted out.

Thank you. This does clarify a bit. However, I decided to be fair to my company when I got pregnant and they asked if I planned to come back immediately after maternity leave, and I said no. 3 month is waaaay too short. So they could find a permanent replacement rather than a temporary. As I understand it, my honesty is now backfiring. As I will be unable to work and not getting any money during this time.
I was planning to register at RAV after maternity leave ending, before the accident, so I will hop my way down there and do it regardless, even though going to job interviews will be hard. And I have a doctor's certificate not to work until end of March. 😒

Thanks though!
