Proper Parkette is always unsealed and needs handling accordingly.
Just bought a house that has unsealed parkette in the corridor outside the bathroom. why?? unsurprisingly water got in there and you can see big gaps where there was expansion/water damage. the whole thing now needs replacing.

Which is why I wouldn't have it anywhere where there's water. But otherwise....

I have teak parquet in my bathroom with black silicon joints, just like a boat deck, absolutely no problem whatsoever
