Helsana or Sanitas?

Anyone had experience of Sanitas or Helsana? Sanitas is the more expensive one.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Re: Helsana or Sanitas?

We have had Sanitas for almost 3 years now and have been very satisfied with their service and coverage. Very easy to submit invoices electronically and in short, we are happy. Search EF, for info whether to go with a higher franchise/deductible or lower one. Very useful info on this website!

You should also visit en.comparis.ch to look at ratings for both companies as well as others to decide. Good luck!

Re: Helsana or Sanitas?

Just to complicate things, I've been with Helsana for 7 years..

Total simplicity, no up-front invoices, medical professionals and pharmacies just bill Helsana, they invoice later for the anything payable. Everything online, choice of language incl EN, can call them or email them with questions.

But as with any insurer, it depends on the policy what service you get ..

I am with Helsana and like that everything is managed online and I have just emailed them about changes to policies and things have been done well. No issues with invoices in the last 8 years. They also have this app that I love using which rewards you with cash back (points earned for steps/exercise, cooking etc) and there is always a free gift that you can pick up from Kkiosk every week (drinks, ricola, ice cream, cereal bar etc). Helsana worked out to be the cheapest for me anyway but the additional perks are nice. Everyone even on basic insurance get these perks.

Re: Helsana or Sanitas?

In my experience Sanitas has issues sometimes with reimbursing some invoices they should reimburse according to your contract. It looks like they're deliberately trying to fool you as along as they can or as long as you allow them to do that. (might have some discriminatory policies here and I am not aware of, who knows)
It's not the worst, probably, but not the most insured friendly company either. I'm personally still with them because I think most of them are the same. Crap at client communication, crap at respecting your rights within your insurance agreement etc. Basically not doing their part and the client having to fight for their rights.

Yes they are more expensive than some of the others, but I have never had an occasion to find fault with their service.
Every time I was unhappy with their services (and there were quite a few occasions) I started checking out other companies. I came to the conclusion that cost wise they're about the same, some are even more expensive than Sanitas.
So I have to give them that. Fortunately, we didn't have problems when my child had a surgery for instance, so they're OKish with big stuff. What they didn't cover yet was a few post op medical materials which of course I'll keep insisting they need reimbursed not because the amount is so large (it is about 140 chf) but because it is supposed to be covered. One of their tricks, maybe the client gives up. I am glad others have a better experience with them. It's so-so for us. But everyone I know complains of similar things about the insurance guys...

Yes! Just got back 200 chf using tbe activity app no issues so far...very useful discounts using the app. We buy travel packages once in a while, when they are worth it, from deindeal.ch and we get an additional 12% from Helsana.
But different companies offer different perks...maybe take a closer look to see what works best for you.
Never had issues with customer service…very good apps.

Kiosk drinks, sweets, ice-cream, etc. recommended by a medical insurance company? I find that a little scary.
