Health insurance after leaving Switzerland

I have de-registered and will be leaving Switzerland in a few days to an EU country, and would like to have an interim health insurance until I get a permanent new one. Swica told me that my health insurance plan will end on the day I leave (even though I mentioned I dont have insurance in the new country). I am aware of the EHIC card (which is on the back of my Swica card), but Swica did not mention anything about it. Any advice on where I can find some basic health insurance for a few weeks?

Interesting as they have a 3 month liability under the EHIC scheme, they usually require proof of cover or charge for 3 months after leaving.

I think it depends which country you are going to and their health care system. Ie if you are going to the UK, you just end your Swiss insurance the day you leave Switzerland.

If you are going to a EU country, wouldnt u be able to register for basic health insurance there? The EHIC is only for emergencies and valid only to public hospitals.

Only if entitled, you usually have to pay national insurance contributions & possibly a top up insurance depending on countriy. Only U.K. covers all regardless

Anyone retiring to the UK with a Swiss pension may have to pay Swiss health insurance!
