Can anyone help me with understand this insurance policy?

Hey guys,

I'm moving to Swizterland next month and my company give me their insurance program to sign up. I really don't understand much about insurance so I just want to get the basic version, however I can't even understand part of the email they sent me could anyone please help me understand what it means? Thank you for your help!!

You benefit from the right of free passage (without medical questionnaire) to the complementary insurance GG2. You may benefit from the complementary insurance GG3, if you can prove an equivalent coverage; hospitalization in private clinics without any limitation. If you do not benefit from the private complementary insurance deemed equivalent and wish to subscribe to GG3, you have to complete a medical questionnaire which involves a risk of coverage restrictions or outright refusal.

You will get the complimentary medical insurance at level 2 without any questions being asked.
If you would like level 3 (which is the best level you can get here) then you either have to prove that you have equivalent cover where you live now or you have to fill out the medical questionnaire and risk refusal of part or all of the cover.

There is not really much advantage to level 3 cover to be honest. You get a private hospital room, some alternative therapies and probably the services of the chief doctor if you wish.

Count yourself very very lucky and privileged to access supplementary insurance GG2 without limitations or a questionnaire to assess pre-exisiting conditions. Only those joining via their corporation with large contracts, have this privilege. 'Ordinary' people just cannot access supplementary if they are over 60 and/or have pre-existing conditions of any kind.

In a nutshell .. If you think you will stay here for some years you should take this extra policy.

It probably costs ~25chf per month extra, if you are young fit and well it may seem like a waste of money but should you need it you will be thankful and you may well not be able to change your mind later.

Thanks guys, thank you so much!

In the form they sent, it seems like CG2 is just different hospital rooms, while everything else remind the same, am I mistaken? It is like 130 CHF more each month compare with CG1 but I can't see any differences in benefit compare except the staying in hospital option.

2) Supplementary Package LCA (according to the Insurance Conditions of the Groupe Mutuel.)
Global GEM (GG)
(Yearly ded. CHF 300.-) Level Monthly
premiums
GG1: Hosp. in a Public ward in a General Hospital 46.00 
GG2: Hosp. in Semi-private room 172.00 
GG3: Hosp. in Private room 209.00 

The semi-private or private rooms are the big difference, there are some minor differences in the amount covered for vaccines and other stuff but it is really not very significant.
