Somebody has to pay

Hello to the whole Community

I normally come in this forum to read, and this is my first post.
i would like to share with the community a sad episode that i'm living in this period.

Few months ago i was doing back and forth to Switzerland
i made some apparent friends, which then i found out were only drug addict or strange people.
By the way a night i got invited in a pub where some of them work, and since we sit in that place, they gave us drinks one after another ,continuosly.
I make it brief.. next morning i woke up in the hospital, without jacket without money and without backpack!
i tried to ask the situation to the nurse but they couldn't give me informations, they also took my blood and they didn't even give me the blood results!
After few months that i'm still sad for that weird episode, YESTERDAY i got a letter from Swiss to my hometown house, saying in Deutsch that i went to hospital on my purpose(while i was in very critical condition, since i don't remember anything) and i have to pay 1000 CHF for the medical expenses, which i don't even know what they did since i got no report of ANYTHING.
What i would like now, is Justice...
Because if i knew that i would have face that bill, i would have a sticker on me written " Leave me on the street don't ever ever never bring me to Swiss Hospital!!!!!!!"

P.S. Is not a matter of money, for me is more a matter on how people treat or are treaten and the worst that can come out of it....

Regards

-Carbonara

Pay. And be thankful it wasn´t in the US.

No hospital gives the bloodworks to a patient and most if not all hospitals send a bill. Be thankful they took care of you?

So you got very drunk with people you hardly knew, ended up in the hospital and now have to pay the bill and feel this is not justified..

O.k. cool story....

Ps: the fact that you made an account for this tells me you'll be loved on Fridays.

For real. Why would the hospital pay for your antics? And yes, said so from my sofa.

Do it again in the US and you will not only be drunk but also broke.

Re: Somebody has to pay

So you would rather be left in the street to possibly die than someone found you and made sure you were taken to hospital to be looked after. They didn't need to btw, but they did out of the kindness of their hearts.

You knew these people were drug addicts and strange yet still went out drinking with them and left yourself open to being drugged and robbed? Did you report the theft to the police btw?

And then complain that the hospital is now charging you for your treatment? If you've been back and forth to Switzerland then you know health care here is not free and you should have had travel insurance or some other type of insurance to cover you for trips here, depending on what they're for.

I'm sorry to hear what happened to you; it shouldn't happen to anyone. But trying to put blame on the hospital for charging you for the care you received - and possibly saved your life since you say you were in a critical conditon - is just unfair.

Someone does have to pay - sadly that seems to be you since you don't seem to have any insurance to cover this.

Re: Somebody has to pay

You're lucky the ambulance took you instead of the police. If the police have taken you for being dead-drunk, the invoice could be higher.

Medea above is right: health insurance is something to worry about in Switzerland.

Re: Somebody has to pay

Firstly, If it was that serious then you should have reported the incident to the police. Sounds like you either drank a lot or where spiked.

Secondly, I worked in Saudi Arabia for a while and my boss told me 4 little words that always brought things in to perspective: Remember where you are!
Silly phrase, means nothing, but sit back, and say those words to yourself. You’re not in your country, respect the system of the country you are in.

Btw, what country are you from?

I'm pretty sure you are wrong about this.
Most civilized countries legally require that citizens assist those in danger (e.g. by calling the ambulance). According to Wikipedia, Switzerland also has such laws: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duty_to_rescue

Just out of curiosity. Doesn't sound like the OP is a Swiss resident. If he just decides not to pay would the hospital have any way to get the money from a non-resident foreigner?

Re: Somebody has to pay

So who does the OP think should be paying for the care they received in hospital?
Think of the hospital as being a not-for-profit business (assuming it wasn't a private clinic). Its costs need to be covered. Does the OP think the Swiss taxpayer should be paying for their foolishness?
Take your responsibilities.
