Coronavirus refunds [health insurance]

Hi all,
I am one of those who would like people to be more careful about Coronavirus and don't think it's going to get better so I was wondering... do you know if possible treatments due to Coronavirus will be covered by insurances? I have tried to find information on this but only thing stated is for swabs. I would like to understand what would be the situation if more serious treatments are needed.

Thanks

Yes.

Expect health insurance to be more expensive next year if this becomes bigger.

Surely dependent on your 'franchise' and only if a Doctor agrees to testing and/or treatment.

Clearly you need to have insurance in place to cover the level of claim before an insurance co will pay out. A Dr will charge regardless of if he does a test or not.

Are you mainly talking about treatments once you have the illness or about preventative measures ?

Well, the preventative measures are about washing your hands, so don't expect SWICA to pay for your luxury organic soap

My personal measures are limited to eating vast amounts of garlic, this keeps everyone at least 3 m. away from me

Re: Coronavirus refunds [health insurance]

FYI... Was presented a bill of 600+ CHF by my health insurance for THE test.
Was referred to the "emergency" by the HMO (back in January). Even in hindsight, there were "grounds for suspicion". Got the full-hazmat etc etc. treatment. Samples got sent to Geneva yada yada yada. Self isolated until the "negative" results were back.

I don't think i had a choice to "decline", was reported to the Kantonarzt or whatever. I just hope the price of test has come down now, and doesn't come in the way of people getting tested.

only now, (if ze media is to be trusted) the hospitals will probably not test

Hi,

but what is your franchise ? Unless your Franchise is lower than 6000 or you have already treatments that have already cost more than your franchise for 2020 this bill is not a big surprise.

Glad you were negative and all the best
Martin

The excess is 2500, and other than the test, i've had no other damages this year.
The 600+ CHFs left not just me, but my other colleagues gobsmacked as well.. But well, its Switzerland
In no way complaining, i am writing it down agains the no-good-deed-goes-unpunished list.

Re: Coronavirus refunds [health insurance]

Bit of a pain when you had no choice, but hey, if you need further care this year, you'll stop paying your own contribution earlier!
