Is it possible to notify SAM online?

Hello. Apologies or the basic question.

I have received a letter from SAM that prompts me to apply for insurance and then send them the copy of the certificate, so 2 actions to take.

Can both of this be done online, or at least one if it needs to be done by the normal post? Thanks.

Apply for insurance online, you probably get the documents sent home to sign, sign, make a copy and send that on? Post office still works

Re: Is it possible to notify SAM online?

thank you roegner.

the problem is that i am very close to the 3 month deadline and i haven't received the insurance certificate yet. their support line is closed due to coronavirus.

i was wondering if it is worth to let SAM know that I applied for it so at least they don't allocate me to another insurer

Send them a copy of your application?

Re: Is it possible to notify SAM online?

As a general principle, this works: make copies of all the correspondence, and send the same bundle to both places, showing that you are doing so. Here's a suggested text. Yes, paper better than mail.

Dear MEDICALINSURANCENAME , Dear SAM

The following reference numbers apply:
MEDICALINSURANCENAME: (if you already have one)
SAM: (the numbers on the letter that they sent to you).
My Social Security AHV-number is: (your 13-digit number)
On DATE, the SAM informed me that I must registered for Swiss medical insurance. Please see attached copy.
ON DATE, I applied to MEDICALINSURANCENAME for insurance. Please see attached copy.

I have not yet been able to reach the MEDICALINSURANCENAME support line to enquire about the progress, but of course I am aware that the Coronavirus is causing delays of all sorts.

This letter serves to confirm, to both MEDICALINSURANCENAME and the SAM, that my application for insurance has been made. I presume that it will be processed in due time, and will report to the SAM again as soon as MEDICALINSURANCENAME sends me confirmation of insurance.

Kind regards.

If you can send a rough translation of this is the local Swiss language (with the help of deepl), so much the better.
