Re: Making Sense of my Car Insurance Bill

That seems way too high.

The Vollkasko is based on the new list price of your car.
I have all the bells and whistles for two cars that share a plate and are of similar value. I think the book value of the more expensive one is CHF 155k. All in I pay CHF 2,400. With just the one car (same value) it was CHF 2,100. Also with full bonus level, that I got immediately through my employer. There’s even a gross negligence waiver

I think you're over insured and pay too much.l my Audi is nearly 10 years old. I have only partial casco and 3rd party liability, and pay approximately 500 CHF per year
how do you know that without knowing what car it is? what if it is a Lamborghini Veneno?

Well OP came back and said it's a 7 year Honda Jazz and he's over 30... so definitely paying way over the odds!

I don't know what OP should be paying, insurance pricing is a dark art but to put some context into the discussion. Me and Mrs Parker are in our 50's and not had a claim for over 15 years.

Mrs P's 2019 M2 shopping chariot is CHF 950 per year
My DB11 of the same age is CHF 1,420 per year

Both are full casco, parking damage, european breakdown, hail cover, glass & headlights, any family member over 25 and a supplement on the M2 to cover the gap between current value and replacement cost. Deductable for an at fault accident is 1,000 on the M2 and 2,500 on the DB11.
