I am a student and last year obtained the exemption for compulsory insurance. My insurance (SwissCare) just started requiring that for each claim we upload proof of our exemption. Naturally, I didn't keep the paper the Gesundheitsdirektion of Zurich sent me over a year ago confirming this. I have tried to email the Versicherungsobligatorium branch of Zurich's Gesundheitsdirektion, but have so far not received a response. Does anyone have any tips for getting in contact? They have an office listed on Stampfenbachstrasse -- can you just walk in and talk to them or is it not a functional office in that sense (like the Kreisburo)?

It is NOT natural to chuck out important papers. As a student you still have much to learn. Yes you can turn up in person, but be prepared to pay a fee t get a copy...

I thought the exact same! Who would chuck the authorization of an exemption? Especially nowadays just snap a photo? Anyway... Some people need to learn the hard way.

I think, perhaps, the gesundheitsdirektion is slightly overworked at the moment as there is a big pandic going on. I would write them a traditional letter but be prepared to wait and pay. Or perhaps they will say they never granted it.... Who knows!
