AXA insurance - pet damage to apartments

I'm looking to get personal liability and household insurance from AXA.

I have a cat and they clearly state on the simulation that they cover for pet damage to rented apartments, even the kind of damage done over time.

Before I sign anything I decided to take a look at the document where they describe their coverage in more detail. Looking at the pet damage section I found this:

Quote:
The insurance covers damage caused by pets to premises which are rented by insureds if the rental period is indefinite or more than 12 months. The insurance also covers damage caused gradually by pets.
I'm trying to understand what they mean by this:

1. Does my contract have to be signed for more than 1 year?
2. This is not related to the duration of the contract but rather with the time I live on this apartment?

If it's scenario number 1 then their insurance is not worth for me since my contract is only for 1 year. I do intend to live here more than that.

Does anyone have experience with their insurance or can you recommend another provider that covers for all kinds of pet damage without these time constrains?

Most rentals are indefinite (like work most work contracts). They are not looking for short term renters as the risk is far higher.

We have this with AXA, think it's a 3 year contract. But maybe you could negotiate a shorter one (might cost more).

What I meant is the duration of my house contract and not the insurance contract. I don't know if they only cover if I sign a house contract superior to 12 months or if is it enough that I live on this apartment for more than 12 months.

They are only interesting in covering where people wish to live permanently not for temporary accommodation. Normally people take out long term or indefinite contracts, thats what the insurance is looking to cover. Someone with animals who keeps moving is going to be a bad risk, too many move outs.....

Re: AXA insurance - pet damage to apartments

I have AXA too and I think this is a new version - will look what we have. I think this may exclude hotel for example or a rented flat for a holiday? Could be an issue or not depending on the pet.

Incidentally I find AXA very good and not problematic at payout, they paid a few of the damages caused by our dog when he was a puppy without much questions.

Re: AXA insurance - pet damage to apartments

So I read the GIC and my interpretation is the following:
1) The basic coverage for liability insurance excludes pet damages to rental flats that are rented for long term (this because they want to avoid wear and tear) (B.5.9)
2) The supplementary coverage (C4) then includes it.

Can you check and see if you think this is correct?
