Health insurance for cross-border worker (France/Geneva)

Hey everyone, another complicated question I'm afraid 😅 I'm a cross-border worker (intern) living in france and am trying to sort out health insurance. In order to do that I need to fill out a form and get the french assurance maladie to sign it before posting to the SAM in Geneva. The thing is the office in France only see people with an appointment, and to get an appointment I need to get a social insurance number... which could take 2-6 months. Does anyone know a way out of this Kafkaesque situation? I've also contacted the SAM and they told me I actually only need to send this form after I get swiss insurance but the signature of the French assurance maladie is obligatory. I'm not quite sure whether that means I can just get Swiss insurance and hope the SAM never get round to harassing me or not though..
