dental health insurance for 8 year old

Hi all,

I am new here, recently moved to Switzerland with my family. Greetings everyone!

I wanted to ask for help as we are looking for dental insurance for our 8 year old girl. She has no orthodontics needs yet, but when we have applied to dental insurance to two different companies (Groupe Mutuel and Sanitas) the dentist that filled the report for them wrote down that she has a small deviation, nothing that needs correction now, but which may need in the future depending how it develops. Both insurances have rejected insuring for orthodontics.

Does anyone know if it is possible to insure for the child orthodontics somewhere, even if it means paying more for monthly premiums?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

When we moved here my son was 6 and We had to do check also with local dentist and he said there were a few holes in his baby teeth. In the end the best we got was orthodontist insurance which covers 50% of costs with Swica.

For our kids the insurance asked that we start the additional dental policy before they turned 5... Maybe others have different cut off points but I guess once the milk teeth fall out it starts to be clear how much costs might be generated.

Groupe Mutuel is amongst the best in terms of cost vs coverage. Can you try negotiate with them a longer waiting period? As part of a broader package they will consider attractive? I.e. if you all take out other complementaries etc (of course it must be something you want to do anyway or it may cost more than paying for the eventual orthodontic).

Depending on your income, some communities pay towards the cost. We got 50 Francs with the comment "You can get yourselves a nice bottle of wine".
