Finishing master degree. possible to keep insurance exemption with online classes?

I am asking this question for my GF. She lives in Switzerland and currently has an exemption from the Swiss insurance since she is a foreigner who moved from the US doing a masters. However, she just graduated. She is interviewing for PhD programs but will probably not know whether she is accepted until later this year, so there will be a brief period where she is not in school or working. She wanted to see if it might be possible to take some online distance learning programs to brush up on statistics or learn some programming. I am curious if she is still eligible to keep her student insurance (SwissCare) if she is enrolled as a student in an online distance learning program here in Switzerland or abroad? Anyone have experience with this?
