2022 Health insurance premium decrease

Health insurance: Average premium will decrease in 2022 for the first time since 2008

"Bern, 09/28/2021 - The burden on Swiss households from health insurance premiums will decrease significantly in 2022. This is due to a decrease in the average premium of 0.2% and a reserve reduction of 1.2% of this average premium. The measures that the Federal Council has taken to induce insurers to reduce reserves have proven to be effective. The insurers have also calculated the premiums tightly on the basis of the costs expected for 2022. Nevertheless, the Federal Council is of the opinion that the reduction in reserves must continue in the coming years and that reforms are still necessary in order to contain health costs."

Re: 2022 Health insurance premium decrease

Will the premiums be automatically adjusted in 2022 or would one need to sign a new contract?

A 0.2% reduction in the premiums is not exactly a significant burden reduction.

Quote from Tages Anzeiger:

The result of the premium round is something to be pleased about. But we should not be deceived: Health care costs continue to rise - the most recent per capita growth rate was over 3 percent, as reported by the health insurance association Santésuisse. And at some point, even the magic of reserves will come to an end.

The biggest mystery, however, remains Corona. Will the virus trigger a delayed cost surge as many people eventually catch up on their postponed "elective" procedures? How will the long-term consequences of the disease (Long Covid) play out? Even the Federal Council does not yet know what we have to expect.

It is done automatically, so no need to do anything.

I’ve just looked on comparis and mine seems to be going up still … a few companies are a tiny bit cheaper - but still the same as I’m paying this year

The 0.2% is an average across the country. Some cantons will see increases.

I usually do comparis and end up with Assura.

Is this the right method ? I regularly see very aggresive commercials or get phoned up but I have always heard those are crooks.

Comparis is a helpful resource.

Most if not all health insurance related information can be found online.
Personally I dont see the need for a broker.

Its like with any other profession, some are honest & some less.

I use the official one from fed:

Comparis does not list all results.

BTW: assura is indeed cheapest meanwhile the service is bad. if you would ever have any bill dispute with them you will know
