Accident insurance upon retirement: SUVA or private?

I'm about to retire and I understand I can continue with SUVA accident insurance for 6 months. Is there any benefit to this? My private insurance is with Helsana and I was thinking just to ask them from the start of retirement to add accident insurance to my coverage.

Don‘t know about SUVA, but usually your last employers accident insurance will have a grace period of 30 days after your employment has ended / your retirement has begun.

It‘s really easy to just login to your account on the Helsana app / website, and just tick the box to add accident insurance from which date (at least that‘s what I did). Took seconds and worked perfectly.

Happy retirement!

You'll have to add the accident insurance on to your health insurance. In my case, my health insurer took the necessary steps but it's probably better to contact your insurer directly. I think you get 1 extra month from your employer's accident insurance but am not sure about that. Cost is 30 to 35 CHF extra per month.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds very straightforward.
