exactly! my point is this: why pay now for a benefit i cannot have. the waiting period is no problem. but as far as i can see this seems normal and i either have to just do it or stay on general insurance.. unless anybody knows of any health insurers which enforce a time wait but not a financial charge.

Most clinics and hospitals will upgrade you for a fee.

Self-insuring may be a better option.
