The thing is, I'd rather not "screw" the lady, e.g. by taking 1000chf cash from her and fixing the bumper for 200chf in RO. She was nice enough to leave me a note, so I think it's just wrong to take advantage of her.
Ok. So take 1000CHF and spend it in a Swiss garage :-). Then it's you who gets screwed.

It's a 6 year old car, hardly an issue if the repair is done at her friends bodyshop. If you had a Ferrari then go to a specialist , come on life is to short to worry about minor things.

Re: Someone hit my car - what to do?

got lucky that I had a witness saw someone hit my spotless (now sold) s4 after I got it 2 days. guy left the plates. I got the number from the police.

"ah lets meet up blabla bla it can happen to anyone blabla bla+ I told him if he left a note himself I would have considered it. since he was a dick about it I got it to the most expensive shop, got also my 1300chf headlights replaced, and everything internal to the bumper that was unrelated to the accident but the shop said....we will include it. do I feel guilty...not one second, if it wasnt for he witness I would be paying.

so since the lady was nice enough to leave a note. get the painted quote (shop will realize if it is broken inside or not) and get it fixed. have her pay cash BEFORE you get it fixed

Re: Someone hit my car - what to do?

Awright, settle down people . Met the lady today, it's a company car, so insurance will take care of everything (theoretically). I'm now waiting for her to notify the insurance company, then I will leave the car at a VW dealer and they will handle it from there (talk to insurance, see if expert comes to check it out etc). The guy at the dealer told me they have to take the bumper off to check for damage and also will respray it all. If they really do this, then for me it's perfect, no need to complicate my life with cash payments

Reply to Swissgreys - not sure where you get the Log-in name but that's not relevant here, presumably short of hair like me, or some oblique reference to mono-cultural swiss blandness - just go with the flow, can't believe anyone is suggesting anything else ))

Re: Someone hit my car - what to do?

Reply to JMF - your story has also been a vindication of the kindness of human nature "she backed into me and left a note", and now it turns out it's a company car and it's all covered on insurance....well, well, and all those doubting Thomases......)
