Paying 1 month insurance for 2 days cover?

I came to Switzerland at the end of month so asked for insurance from 29 March. The insurance company (Galenos) wants to charge me for the full month even though I'm covered for only 2 days. Is this rip-off normal?

This has been covered several times in various threads. Basic health insurance works in whole months and it therefore starts from the 1st of the month.

god. why do the swiss put up with this sh*t?!

anyway. off to the bank... again!

I wonder why they stop at the start of the month? why not charge from the beginning of the year? Or maybe the decade/century?

On the positive side, when your kids are born here most insurers give you the month of birth free. My son came right at the end of the month though

Hope the insurers are not reading your suggestion. They might implement it.
