Accident insurance paid by employer or employee?

I have sent mail to my HR department but they do not answer (outsourced all the functions)

I think I get accident insurance as part of my employment contract, but do not see if this is paid by me (don't see any deduction) or is bundled and that is why I do not see it. It seems unlikely that my employer pays it, as they have cut out absolutely everything they are not legally required to pay for. (pension, health insurance, severance)

Does anyone have any information if this is legally required to be paid by employers in Switzerland and if there is any other names for it that perhaps I am not aware of that could be listed in my contract or paystub.

thanks

Accident insurance paid by the employer in full is compulsory if you work more than 8 hours per week.

Re: Accident insurance paid by employer or employee?

Hmm I get accident insurance also by my employer, what I see in my salary slip is the contribution they make but no deduction since I am not paying for it (probably not you either). Have you checked the bottom of your salary slip? (Look also for a contribution and not a deduction!).
In mine it says:

Employer's contribution:
Non occup.accident insur. (amount ****).

Accident insurance is split between on the job ("Betriebsunfall") and off the job ("Nicht-Betriebsunfall"). The employer pays on the job - and if generous also off the job.

Are you sure? I thought it was compulasary for the employer to pay for accident insurace regardless of when the accident happened.

Re: Accident insurance paid by employer or employee?

Every employer I have worked with have paid fr 100% coverage and there have been a few of them which is why I questioned this. Also my last nanny was covered for a sledging accident through the accident insurance I provide and there was no question of on or off work coverage when I took out her policy.

All accidents are covered regardless of where they took place. Taken from the comparis website:

Quote:
Accident coverage provided by employers covers accidents that happen both inside and outside of work.
I also know this from experience, I've had 100% of my ski accident-related bills paid by my employer's insurance.

Re: Accident insurance paid by employer or employee?

Of course, all accidents are covered. The question is not WHEN but WHERE and who pays the premium. It's compulsory for the employer to pay the premium for "Betriebsunfall" but it's not compulsory for him to pay the premium for "Nicht-Betriebsunfall", (NBU), look out for "NBU" on your pay slip. If there's a deduction for NBU it's you who pays that premium.

rpf has correctly stated the insurance and premium liability.
