car insurance up 5% year over year

My car insurer (Mobiliar) has just sent me calculation for next year's premium for "Vollkasko" and it is higher by ca 5%. My car's first registration was in 02/2007, so its depreciation is not negligible over this year and I had no claims.
Does the the car insurance premium depend so little on the resale value of a car?

The actual value of your car is only a minor consideration. If, for example, you caused an accident in which several people were seriously injured the resulting claim could be very substantial. Itís the third party aspect which is, therefore, the main factor.

And alsoif you have no claims protection on the 3rd party element - I was amazed at the difference in my quotes without this.

The premium does not depend on the resale value. An absurd anomaly, but that's how it is. Hence, many car owners stop the optional comprehensive insurance when the car is older.
