Live in Switzerland but work in Italy, do I need health insurance?

Hi, I live in Switzerland but I work in Italy. I want to get private health insurance from England (best package). I know you need to have health insurance if you live in Switzerland. In order to switch companies my health insurance needs to approve or recognize my new insurance. Can the insurance here force me to keep my policy with them even when my new insurance is recognize in Switzerland?

You live in Switzerland, you need Swiss health insurance and there are very few exceptions. Short term contract (less than 6 months ?) student are about the only 2 i can think of.

UK health insurance is "not good enough" for Switzerland, it's basicaly about protecting the market nothing to do with the insurance.

If you are resident in Switzerland then you should have at least the basic Swiss Insurance unless you come under some special category which allows exemption.

Itís unlikely that any UK policy could meet Swiss standards. For example, the basic insurance has to be provided by a non profit making company and they have to accept you, at normal terms, irrespective of your state of health. They cannot alter the cover, increase the premium or refuse to renew your policy, no matter how bad your health may become. The companies also participate in various health schemes.
