Re: Small snow shower disrupts part of UK. Again.

Because there are normally not much snow in the UK the country do not have the resource to deal with it in a timely manner.

Re: Small snow shower disrupts part of UK. Again.

Here in Northern Ireland it really feels like Switzerland with all the snow.. and as I have my spiked boots and warm clothes, I seem to be one of the very few here dressed for it, and can walk without falling over.. if only I had brought my swiss snow shovel and a big bag of salt from Migro.. and I'd kill for some winter tires, can't get them here for love nor money

Sad thing (as always) is the the UK news and satellite image only show the UK - obviously the only country effected by the cold weather...
Funny that isn't it Swiss news tends to report Swiss news too!!

Come on, the Brits spend their lives talking about the weather, at least this week, it was worth it! Go Britain! Weather power!

Small snow shower disrupts part of Switzerland. Again.

We're p1ss1ng ourselves here in the UK that (whilst some parts of the UK are indeed toiling under the severest&earliest winter weather for two decades n change), mainland Europe has somehow contrived a shortage of winter tyres ( the increased demand for them presumably due to, errr, winter ).

Actually, it's even not that exciting here ("here here", rather than "here UK" IYSWIM) - had to chuck some grit down on the double chicane just down the hill, but apart from that, really nothing to report. Bit of an anticlimax really

Time to head back and hit the slopes, methinks

I think seeing/hearing a Swiss talking about anyone else talking excessively about weather is ironic (to say the least)

Föhnig, gäl?

Pretty horrible weather in part of Scotland just now. Schools and universities closed in Glasgow. Check the state of the m8 though. Crazy! There has been a lot of snow though.

Re: Small snow shower disrupts part of UK. Again.

Kids in a school in Lanarkshire had to sleep in school over night due to the heavy snowfall. How's that for bad luck!

M8 has been closed since last night between junction 1 and 5. Staggering....I don't understand why they can't clear the road and make it drivable?

Apparently the temperature was -18 so the grit wasn't working.

I just hope Sleazyjet can get me to Edinburgh on the 21st! But then I might not be able to get into town because of the roads.....

Re: Small snow shower disrupts part of UK. Again.

Lorry drivers delivering crisps to Lidl broke open their load to feed motorists trapped on the M8.

I am flying to EDI on the 24th. Hope it's not cancelled either
